Wigan and Wolves are chasing Odense’s £3million-rated midfielder Mohamed Traore.

The 24-year-old joined the Danish outfit two years ago and has blossomed into one of the most dominant figures in the Superliga.

Last season, his consistent displays brought him to the attention of a cluster of high-profile clubs in Europe.

Wigan have identified the 6ft 4in midfielder as a potential replacement for Mohamed Diame, who left the DW Stadium on a free transfer this summer for West Ham.

Traore’s physical attributes and technical ability have convinced Roberto Martinez he can cope with the demands of the Premier League.

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken wants to pair Traore with his fellow Mail international, Tongo Doumbia, at the heart of a new-look midfield for the Championship club.

Doumbia recently arrived at Molineux on a season-long loan from Rennes and Solbakken believes the robust duo can form a powerful partnership.

The Wolves chief is a known admirer of Traore, who he initially spotted while he was coach at Copenhagen.
